Description of Work:

Anchor Construction worked with DDOT to make improvements to major school routes throughout the District of Columbia as part of the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program. This program was designed to improve safety for students who walk and bicycle to school, encourage students and their parents to walk and bicycle to school, and to boost student physical activity, reduce parents’ fuel consumption and reduce pollution and traffic congestion near schools.

Major work included the installation and reconstruction of:

  • Public sidewalks
  •  Intersections
  • Curbs and gutters
  • Handicap ramps
  • Concrete bus pads in public roadways
  • Crosswalk electrical beacon signals
